November Favorites
|via|
Happy December! I’m currently writing this from a hotel room in New Orleans, where everything is beautifully decorated for the holidays.
My friends over at MegaFood invited me to come for the ShiftCon conference so I’ll be here for the next couple of days networking and learning about all things health, sustainability and wellness. I’ll try my best to report back with something interesting but in the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and that you enjoy my favorite finds from November!

Favorite Breakfast: Cardamom Oats with Pear & Nut Butter. I started baking with cardamom recently and I feel like I’ve been missing out for my entire life. It has such a unique flavor that just screams winter. Imagining how it tastes with the pear and nut butter in this oatmeal is giving me all the cozy feels!
Favorite Shoe: Tom’s Plaid House Slippers. Speaking of cozy, how adorable are these slippers? I’ve been wearing them around the house the past couple of weeks and they are super comfy. I also love that they’re vegan AND my purchase gifted a child in need a pair of shoes. Conscious shopping doesn’t get better than that, my friends.
Favorite Smells: P.F. Candle Co. These candles, you guys. I bought several along with a few diffusers for our new place and they smell sooooo good. I highly recommend the spruce, teak and tobacco, pumpkin spice, and orange cardamom. Just to name a few. :)
Favorite Cookie Craving: Salted Caramel Thumbprint Cookies. I don’t usually go for caramel cookies but one look at these babies and my jaw dropped to the floor. Can you believe they’re vegan, gluten-free and grain-free?? I think I might be able to make an exception for caramel in this case. ;)
Favorite Instagram: SennaRelax. This travel blogger is based in Switzerland and her pictures always make me swoon. Seriously though, who wants to spend winter in the Swiss Alps with me?
Favorite Soup: Red Curry Kuri Squash Soup. I’ve never cooked with kuri squash but this soup is making me want to! It’s made with lemongrass, fresh ginger, coconut milk and lime. Light but still satisfying enough to keep you nice and warm.
Favorite Book: The Magnolia Story. Chip and Joanna are back!!! Did you watch the first episode?? How awesome was that dog spa?! Now I have to have one. Okay, let’s talk about their book. I picked up a copy on Small Business Saturday at a locally owned bookstore and haven’t been able to put it down since. It’s hilarious and so sweet. If you’re a Fixer Upper fan then you absolutely have to read it!
Favorite Dessert: No Bake Brownie Batter Truffles. Too soon for another dessert? Nah. Mostly because these are made with ingredients that are good for you. That’s right, guilt-free chocolate brownie truffles. You can thank me later. Or Amanda. You should probably thank her.
Favorite Colorful Meal: Moroccan Aubergine & Chickpea Stew. Okay, here’s the veggies. I can’t stay away from the good stuff for too long, you know that. I have a feeling this stew is just as flavorful as it is stunning. It almost reminds me of a tagine, but better.
Favorite Album: Kings of Leon. I already loved the Kings but their new album has made me fall even deeper. It’s a winner.
Favorite Dessert: Vegan Chocolate Peppermint Cupcakes. Because I like to leave things on a good note. Especially when it involves chocolate…in fudgy cupcake form.

Those candles look so dreamy! Once winter hits, I have several going at all times – so cozy. And those slippers! Love!! Santa may be bringing me an early Christmas present! ;-)
They are so comfy! Hopefully Santa pulls through for you. ;)
I want to go to the Swizz Alps with you! And I’ll bring caramel cookies :D thanks so much for including me, you lovely lady. I clicked on like 12 different things on this list so it’s your fault if I end up with new slippers and candles, haha! Hope you have the best weekend at ShiftCon!
Uhh…I meant Swiss. IDK where that Swizz came from
Switzerland + your cookies sounds like a dream! :)
So much delicious..especially those brownie truffles!!! But also I love those TOMS slippers. I am not the biggest fan of the shoes, but these are super cute!
I don’t like the shoes either. My feet are way too big for them. But the slippers are much cuter! :)
So many good things!!
1) I haven’t gotten a chance to watch the new Fixer Upper episode yet, but I am excited. (And now so intrigued by the dog spa!!) Also, I am happy to hear the Magnolia book is so good!
2) I can’t choose between the No-Bake Brownie Batter Truffles or the Vegan Peppermint Chocolate Cupcakes to make first. Both sound amazing, but the peppermint just screams holidays!
3) Love those slippers! I got a new pair of Uggs slippers for my birthday and love them. I always think slippers are worth the splurge because you’ll a) wear them every day and b) need a place to rest your feet after a long day!
The book is so good! Chip is hilarious so it’s really entertaining. :)
And yes, a good pair of slippers is a must!
What a great list, thanks. I too love cardamon; the scent is intoxicating. I hope you will create a baked good recipe that has cardamon in it, pretty please! :)
I have one coming very soon!! :)
I’ve never been to New Orleans — how fun! Have a great time!
Those candles and those slippers — love them! I didn’t start baking with cardamom until 2 years ago and I felt the same way. The stuff is just magical!
You’re making me so hungry with all of these recipes too — that red kuri squash soup looks downright amazing, and Rachel’s cookies look too good to pass up!
They have some pretty amazing restaurants! I think you would love it. :)
Aw thanks so much for including my cupcakes!!! <3
I love fixer upper! They are such relationship goals. I’m also in love with those candles. I usually get mind from TJ maxx or B&BW, but there are so many great ones out there! I have at least one candle burning every day, so there can never be enough!
My word! You always round up the best recipes, Sarah and I’m totally wanting to faceplant into that stew! I mean HELLO! Kings… yes, I hear you! I’ve not heard their new music… I’m going to iTunes now! Thank you for sharing my dear! xo
I absolutely love your monthly favourites! All the recipes look amazing and I always scroll through, say, I’ll come back to that one, then realize i need to come back to every single one ;). Keep being amazing!
Aw, thanks Emma! :)
