I said goodbye to Mom yesterday just hours after hearing about what happened in Belgium. The timing feels ironic seeing how Brandon was on his way home when I discovered that the last attack took place.
I am feeling a lot of things right now. To say that I am sad would be an understatement. I am devastated, frustrated and utterly bewildered why another human being would want to do something so cruel to completely innocent strangers. It breaks my heart. As I said before, I know that a food blog is a strange place to discuss these things but there’s a real person behind this computer screen and I can’t pretend like it didn’t happen. I only hope that moments like this will make our bonds stronger with each other so that we can overcome such hatred.
I’m a firm believer that one of the best ways we can heal during times like this is through lots of love and good food. With spring upon us, the earth’s vitality is palpable right now.
