Creamy Mango Yogurt Smoothie
Well, hello there! How was everybody’s weekend? Good, I hope! Mine was pretty uneventful which is why I skipped out on doing a post on Friday. No one wants to listen to me complain about work, am I right? Well, even though my weekend was spent working, I am pretty pumped about today’s post! And no, it’s not just because of this thick & creamy smoothie.
We’ll get to that in a minute but let’s talk about this cold drink first, k? K. So, there’s some good stuff in this smoothie right herr yawls.
Besides being packed with refreshing fruity flavor from diced mango, banana, peaches, and a little bit of orange-pineapple juice, it’s also made with vanilla yogurt to give it that comforting, rich and creamy texture.
Seriously, how many times am I going to say creamy today? I guess I can’t think of a better way to describe it… Anyway, what I’m trying to tell you is that this is one tasty smoothie. And (if it weren’t for the light green color) you would never know that it’s sneaking in a serving of muscle-building fresh spinach and skin-glowing carrots.
What? Skin-glowing carrots? Yes…they’re not just good for your peepers like your mama used to tell you. The beta-carotene is also great for the skin. Drink this and be gorgeous darling, just gorgeous!
Creamy Mango Yogurt Smoothie Inspired by Iowa Girl Eats
- 1 cup frozen mango
- 1/2 cup frozen peaches
- 1 medium-size frozen banana
- 2 small carrots, peeled and diced
- 1 and 1/2 cups baby spinach
- 3/4 cup (6 ounces) dairy-free yogurt
- 1/2 cup orange-pineapple juice*
Makes 2 servings
- In a blender, combine frozen mango, peaches and banana along with vanilla Greek yogurt.
- Add diced carrots and spinach, then pour in juice and blend on high until a smooth and creamy texture has formed.
*I actually used an orange juice blended with pineapple, mango and apple (which was deelicious) but you could use any orange juice blend and it would taste just as good.
So…you know when the best time to drink a nice cold, protein-packed, healthy smoothie is?
Right after a great workout, of course! After I wrote my review of Ramona Braganza’s 321 Method Level One DVD, I tweeted Ramona to let her know how much I love her product and she was kind enough to send me an extra copy to give away to a lucky reader!
Honestly, I can’t stress enough how great this DVD is. It’s a perfect at-home option for those don’t have the time to make it to the gym (new moms or commuters, like myself) or for those who can’t afford a gym membership. All you need is a little bit of space, a small step bench (like they use in BodyPump) or incline bench, a set of dumbbells and you’re good to go! Even if you do have a gym membership or access to a small gym, it is a great way to spice up your routine with some new moves and her awesome 321 method. You could watch the DVD once and take notes on the routine and moves to take with you to the gym later.
Either way, it’s great for some new fitness motivation and we could all use that with summertime right around the corner. To enter the giveaway, log in to the Rafflecopter with your email or Facebook account and follow the directions for multiple entries for more chances to win. After the giveaway closes on Friday, June 21st, I will notify the winner via email to get your mailing address. Thanks for entering and good luck! a Rafflecopter giveaway
Hope you all have a great Monday! What is your favorite post workout snack? What are your favorite things to put in a smoothie? Disclaimer: Although I was provided a free copy of Ramona Braganza’s 321 Method DVD to give away to a reader, I was not compensated for this post. All opinions are entirely my own.
This smoothie sounds wonderful! Of course the best time for a smoothie is right after a workout. This DVD sounds like a nice way to get in an at home workout. This would have been helpful on nights like tonight when I had planned to go to an evening yoga class but the thunder kept me home with my dog.
I usually split up my cardio and strength training days, but if I do both on one day, I always do strength training first.
THIS smoothie!! Peaches, mangoes, bananas, orange-pineapple juice – EVERYTHING that I need in my life right now ;) And how convenient that I’ll be getting a shipment of Cho in the mail on Tuesday – perfect timing my friend. I’m also hoping I win this DVD – you can stack the giveaway, right?? :)
Yay for free Chobani! You’ll have to whip up a yummy smoothie with it, it gives them the best texture. Oh, and the giveaway? It’s in the bag baby! :)
I like to do cardio before strength training!
Cardio first and then strength training. And then a yummy smoothie!!
Oh that smoothie looks fantastic!! im actually drinking a mango evolution as we speak. i picked one up with my coffee this morning, its so good. hope you’re having a great monday!
They make great juices! Kind of expensive but so good.
I always do cardio first and then weights. Some days I just do cardio and skip the weights all together, depends how tired I am. Smoothies are my favourite post workout snack – so many options and flavors to play with!
I have been doing my cardio after strength just because I get up earlier than my husband and go to the gym, then meet him back at home and we go for a walk. I like it.
That’s great that you do your cardio with your husband! I love combining family time with exercise. :)
I need to sneak some mango into a smoothie soon because that sounds/looks amazing!
strength than cardio!
or else i’ll be too tired!
This smoothie looks AMAZING!
Thanks Jessica! It was really good. :)
I am always looking for new home workouts to keep me from getting bored. This one would be awesome!!
I’ve finally seen frozen mango in a health food shop near the market where I shop and it is expensive but I’m tempted to get it so I can add it to my smoothies like this one as it looks delicious!
I so want to try that DVD! Thinking i probably can’t enter being in Australia but I might try and pick up my own copy.
You can still enter Jan! I will gladly ship it to you if you win. :)
I would say after, otherwise I suck at the strength training. Could definitely use some work in the strength department!
I like to do cardio before strength training
I like to do cardio first, but I am always so tired, I think I should probably change it up sometimes…
I like to do my cardio first, and my favourite post-workout snack is a USANA peanut-butter and chocolate protein bar. Oh my gosh — so yummy! My favourite smoothies include chocolate-flavored whey protein powder, frozen banana chunks, a handful of ice, a cup of water and a few spoons of yogurt.
I do cardio before.
1. I have to make the smoothie. I have all the ingredients at home and it looks deliciously smooth and refreshing.
2. Following you on twitter now!
3. I like to do cardio first before strength. So my muscles are awake and warm.
I used to do it after strenght trainning when I used to go to the gym.
After 2 kids under 4 I could use this DVD :)
This is a really nice way to get a lift after a walk or exercise, my partner whipped up a couple after our sunday ride and we both enjoyed them plus this smoothie is healthy, what more can you ask :)
