August Favorites
{via}
Heeeeyyy there September! I’m still trying to figure out how we got here so quickly. Why does summer always have to fly by so fast?
The good news is that with Labor Day this weekend there’s still a chance to slow down and soak it all in. I won’t being too much of that because we’re traveling next week and I have work to catch up on, but I hope you are able to kick back and relax for me!
In the meantime, here’s a round up of my favorite recent finds for August. I hope you enjoy your weekend!
****************************
Favorite Bowl: Summer Bliss Bowls with Jalapeño Ranch. Because I’m all about the juicy tomatoes and corn right now and would love nothing more than to scarf them down in this bowl of goodness.
Favorite Cool Treat: 2-Ingredient Strawberry Banana Ice Cream. There’s still plenty of strawberries left to be eaten and I’m thinking they need to find their way into this super simple recipe STAT.
Favorite Bite: Quinoa Pizza Bites with Summer Vegetables. Pizza in healthier mini quinoa bite form? I’ll take ten please!
Favorite Way to Eat Zucchini: Healthy Double Chocolate Zucchini Bread. I need this in my life forever and always.
Favorite Tip: How to Wash Your Cast Iron Skillet. I discovered this method a few months ago and it works like a dream! I just use a wet paper towel with sea salt to scrub it clean, rinse it and then dry it immediately. <3
Favorite Bathtub: 21 Bathtubs with the Best Views. Can this just be my house? I can so see myself relaxing there with a glass of wine while the sun sets in the background. Sigh…feels nice to think about, at least.
Favorite Book: Oh She Glows Everyday. This beautiful book arrived on my doorstep last week and I could not stop drooling over every recipe inside. I’m super excited to be sharing one of them with you guys this month plus a chance to win a copy so keep and eye out for that soon!
Favorite Guilty Pleasure: Bachelor in Paradise. My Bachelor addiction has reached a new low, you guys. I’m watching this show too now. It’s so horribly awful but I can’t help myself. Evan and Carly are adorable. Oh, and what do you guys think about Nick as the next Bachelor? I’m not mad about it.
Favorite Wanderlust: Kauai. We’re going to Kauai next week, eek! 2016 has officially been the year of travel for us. If you’ve been please tell me all the amazing things!
Favorite Dessert: No-Bake Vegan Banana Cream Pie. My jaw dropped when I saw this pie. One because I love me some banana cream pie, two because it’s healthified, and three because it’s just so dang pretty.

Kauai is so beautiful! I loved this kayak trip we took down a river and then about a 1 mile hike through the rain forest to Secret Falls. That was probably my favorite activity while we were there. Plantation Gardens Restaurant was kind of cool (no view) because it’s in an old plantation. I also loved Merriman’s Fish House! Probably the best meal I ate while we were there. I don’t think you’re into coffee but Kauai Coffee Co was cool as well as Waimea Canyon. There was a local farmers market too which was cool to check out. I’d think you’d like that. :) Enjoy your trip! My brother is in Maui right now on his honeymoon and I have Hawaii on the brain! I want to go back so bad!
I read about that kayak trip and it sounds amazing! I think it’s gotten pretty popular though so I worry it might be crowded. We were also considering kayaking the Napali Coast but it’s like a 13-hr day. We only have 4 full days so I’m not sure I’m willing to give up that much time. But it looks awesome.
I will definitely make note of all the places you mentioned. Brandon loves coffee so we’ll be sure to check out Kauai Coffee Co. I bet your brother is loving Maui! You’ll get to go back soon. It’s so much cheaper to fly from here than it is on the east coast. That’s why we had to go one last time! :)
Wherever that bathtub is I want to live there too. Looks amazing! Plus, super jealous of all your traveling lately. Hawaii’s on my list of places I want to go, along with a million other places.
Have a great weekend!
Yes, Hawaii is amazing. We are going one last time before we move back east in November because it’s so much cheaper to fly from here!
Such a yummy roundup of recipes! Hawaii sounds amazing, enjoy! I was just reading Nick was going to be the Bachelor. I was surprised it wasn’t one of the guys from Jojo’s season!
Thank you! I was surprised it was Nick too, especially since Bachelor in Paradise hasn’t ended yet. He was considering proposing to a girl on that show after like 3 weeks or something. Crazy!

I can’t believe it’s September already, and I want to eat Julia’s banana cream pie — all of it! I can’t believe you’re off to Kauai next week — you are one world traveller lady! I’ve never been and I want to hear all about it!
I plan on writing a post about it soon! Kauai blew me away and I have a strong feeling you would love it!
