April Favorites
Happy first day of May! Do you guys have any fun plans this month?
We’re heading home to see family so that should be exciting. I’m also hoping we get a chance to go to the springs or the beach while we’re there. I haven’t been in years and have been dying to go. I really miss the water. But we’ll see!
Whatever this month has in store for you, I hope you find time to relax and enjoy it! Until then, sit back and enjoy a round-up of my favorite recent finds!
************
Favorite Brunch Food: Spring Tea Sandwiches with Sunflower Dill Spread. How beautiful are these little sandwiches? I feel like they would be perfect for a Mother’s Day brunch!
Favorite Easy Meal: Hummus Quesadillas. I love this dairy-free hack on veggie quesadillas. I bet they would be even better dipped in some Hemp Ranch Dressing…YUM.
Favorite Rainy Day Food: Peanut Lentil Curry. We’ve had quite a few rainy days this spring and it’s sent my curry cravings into overdrive. This one looks super creamy and easy to make!
Favorite Book: What Alice Forgot. The the storyline of this book is genius and left me constantly anticipating what would happen next. However, I felt like the book could have been shortened by at least 50 pages. The author spent a lot of time on the main character’s sister which didn’t really add much to the story for me. Still a great read though!
Favorite Scent: Aveda Light the Way Candle. Is anyone else obsessed with the smell of Aveda products? I go crazy for them! I recently picked up one of their Light the Way Candles and it smells incredible. Plus each purchase helps bring clean water to those in need. It’s a win-win situation.
Favorite Home Decor: Circular Mirrors. I don’t know what it is but I can’t get enough of circular mirrors lately. I just think they add such a pretty balance above fireplaces, benches and walkways. Definitely going to pick up one for our future home some day.
Favorite Cleaning Tool: Lodge Scrub Brush. For the longest time I’ve been using sea salt and a rag to clean my cast iron but I still had a hard time getting little bits to come loose. That was until I got this scrub brush. You guys, it works so good. I wish I would have gotten one sooner. I highly recommend it if you cook with cast iron on the regular!
Favorite Beauty Product: Andalou Naturals Pumpkin Glycolic Mask. I feel like I talk about this brand in every favorites post but I can’t help it. They make the best stuff and this mask is no exception. It instantly refreshes my skin and leaves it glowing all day long.
Favorite Show: Planet Earth II. Have you guys seen this show yet? We watched a couple of episodes when Brandon’s dad came to visit us last month and it’s freaking incredible. The footage of the wildlife will take your breath away!
Favorite Cookie: Salted Dark Chocolate Pretzel Cookies. These cookies look like a sweet & salty dream come true! They’re also gluten-free and refined sugar-free, assuming you use GF pretzels. Looks like I need to do some baking very soon…

oh my gosh, give me those cookies! They look so good! This is the month we head to Europe (Wednesday – actually!). I’m so excited/nervous. I haven’t been on a flight that long in 10 years and traveling that far while pregnant has left me a little scared! I’m sure it’ll be fine though. I hope you have a great time visiting your family this month. I need some beach time in my life too! The weather is finally getting nice here. Jumped from rainy last week to 90’s this week! So cray.
OMG just 2 days until you leave?! That’s so exciting!! I can totally understand why you would be nervous to fly so far while pregnant. But if your doctor gave you the green light then I’m sure everything will be fine. Just try to relax and enjoy it. It’s your last trip as just the two of you so you have to soak up every second!! And be sure to share on IG so I can see what you’re up to. ;)
I’ll make sure to share! So weird to think it’s the last time we’ll be taking a trip as a family of 2.
I was literally about to buy that book yesterday! I already had another book in my hand, though, so I didn’t end pu getting it,but I’ll keep it in mind for next time.
I’m so pumped for May. It’s one of my favorite months because it’s our anniversary/vacation month, plus I go down to working 4 days a week!
Woo hoo for vacation and a 4-day work week! :)
Have fun with your family and I hope you get to go to the beach! And those cookies–OMG must make.
You’ve rounded up lots of great recipes that I’ve pinned Sarah! I read What Alice Forgot years ago when I was in book club and I couldn’t put it down. I find most of the books I read could be shortened but that’s just me! lol I will look into that mask and I’ve been using Aveda hair products for years and everything does smell amazing. I haven’t seen that candle yet and need to check it out…I like nice fresh scents that aren’t too perfume-y!
Putting this book on hold at the library immediately! I was so obsessed with Big Little Lies that I’m craving more already :) And those tea sandwiches are stunning! Must recreate those!
