Truckee: Downtown Shopping + Dinner at Trokay

Happy Friday y’all! I am still tired from waking up early to run and the 5K I signed up for is first thing tomorrow morning so I’m hoping for a good nights rest tonight. I am also hoping to finish with a 9 minute pace tomorrow but let’s be real, that just isn’t going to happen. I’m thinking 9:30 is more likely at this point.

I guess my vacation kind of got in the way of things but you know what? It was totally worth it! Besides, I still have a 10K in October to work towards.

So I have more of Tahoe to share with you and I may or may not be saving the best parts for last (tee-hee), but I wanted to show you all what a charming little city Truckee is.

While it is a fifteen minute drive from Lake Tahoe, I personally thought it was worth it to be tucked away in a quaint town with plenty of options for great food. It really depends on what kind of trip you are looking to take but I think Truckee is a perfect spot for a relaxing getaway.

The downtown area has a nice collection of unique little shops that are fun to explore for a little while and there is also an excellent restaurant named Trokay that we had a very unique experience at. The food was seriously like art work and it tasted amazing to boot. There are enough pictures below to tell the rest of the story so I’ll let them do the talking…

There were more than a few ingredients on the menu at Trokay that neither of us had ever heard of but it turned out to be the best dinner we had on our trip. The macaroons and candy are something they provide as a complimentary treat; unfortunately, we didn’t save room for dessert. I can imagine it would have been incredible though. We will definitely be going back the next time we are in Tahoe!

Have a great weekend!
