Weekend in Wimberley Day Two
The second day of our weekend getaway in Wimberley started with a trip to a glass blowing demonstration at Wimberley Glassworks.
I’m thinking they could have come up with a different description for Sunday but who I am to criticize?
To get to the demonstration, they lead you through their beautiful shop to the back where there are bleachers for you to sit and watch the free demonstration.
The day we went, they were making a vase which started out like this…
And ended-up like this…
Pretty, huh? They had some really nice things for sale but they were, unfortunately, out of our price range.
After the glass blowing demonstration, we decided to swing by the Central Texas Bonsai Exhibit.
They had a huge selection of beautiful bonsai trees.
I made sure to get a picture with my eyes closed while we were there…
Once we finished perusing the bonsai trees, we went to downtown Wimberley to walk around the shops and get some lunch.
Wimberley has a bunch of really cute stores with unique items and it’s fun to just walk around for a while.
Some of the stores sold art that was a little out there though.
Not exactly my style.
After browsing among the shops we went to a nearby olive vineyard, Bella Vista Ranch.
I’m sure you can tell it was a hot and dry summer that year.
And it wouldn’t be Texas without cattle and horses outside!
Brandon wanted to take a baby calf home but he wouldn’t fit in the backseat.
We ventured inside for an olive oil tasting which was a little unusual. It is very thick going down and not something I would usually sip on but it was interesting to learn about the different flavors and the process behind making it.
After a long day in the Texas heat, we cooled off at a spring in Wimberley named Blue Hole.
Although the water couldn’t compare to Florida springs, it was nice to relax in the shade among the tall green trees for a while.
We cleaned up back at the cottage and had dinner at Creek Road Café back in Dripping Springs.
I know it doesn’t look like much but the ambiance was really nice and the food was amazing. The breaded brie appetizer was my favorite!
All in all, we had a great time in Wimberley and I recommend stopping through if you are ever in the Hill Country.
Have you ever been to Texas?
Do you like swimming in springs or do you prefer swimming pools?
That glass blowing demonstration looks pretty cool and I love those Bonsai trees. I want to go float around in that spring right now! It looks so nice!
You should go check out some of Florida’s springs, they are so pretty! I’m not sure exactly where you’re located but Wekiwa Springs and Ginnie Springs are both beautiful. I miss Florida more than I ever thought I would.
Love, love, LOVE your outfit!! It is so cute :).
Thanks Hannah! Looking back, I think it was a tiny bit too short but it was perfect for the hot Texas weather!
