Rios-Lovell Winery + Dinner at Nonni’s Bistro
I finally caved and turned on the heat tonight and boy, does it feel good. After weeks of taking scalding hot showers in effort to keep warm, I decided it was probably for the best. For my skin, that is.
We had another low-key weekend seeing how Brandon had to work both days again but we did manage to squeeze in a movie on Friday night. We watched Girl Most Likely with Kristin Wiig, and it turned out to be hilarious. For the record, I love her.
On Sunday, we made it out to a local vineyard for a little quality time together before the sun started to set.
Rios-Lovell Winery is a popular site for weddings because of their beautiful landscaping and views of Livermore Valley.
Not a bad spot to get married, right? We enjoyed a glass of wine on their patio and talked about our own wedding plans for a little while.
Since Brandon has been working so much lately, he wanted to take me out to dinner so we went to Nonni’s Bistro in downtown Pleasanton.
It was cool but the heaters felt great so we opted to sit outside in the fresh air.
By the way, can we talk about their butter?
How cute is that?! I’m actually not a huge fan of butter but their presentation pretty much forced me to eat it.
For dinner, I started with the sweet potato and butternut squash soup and had stuffed acorn squash with barley for my main course.
Wow. They were both incredible.
Brandon had the wild mushroom ravioli for his main course which was also a winner.
Finished off by an awkward selfie for dessert.
Really, we had homemade vegan pumpkin pie {by yours truly} and it was a perfect end to the night.
I’m hoping this nice weather sticks around and that the man gets a few days off work so we can go hiking soon. I’m craving some time with nature in a serious way.
What was the last movie you watched?
Have you turned on your heat yet?
Your dinner sounds delicious! I bought an acorn squash today that I’m thinking I’ll stuff with quinoa.
Ok, putting that winery on my wedding destination list ;) Beautiful!
LOVE those pictures, looks so relaxing and beautiful
Man, that dinner sounds fantastic! We finally turned on our heat about two weeks ago since it was starting to get really cold overnight. My husband likes it really cold but I’m always cold and like to be warm : ) We fight over the temperature haha
What a gorgeous winery! I love the picture with the rose in it!
Yup, we had to turn on our heat. It’s freezing here!
That dinner looks awesome! It’s been chilly here, so the heat has been on – but ours tends to run a little too hot, so I usually end up having to crack a window for a little while!
Last movie I watched? I was in a comedic mood Friday night, so I threw on ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ for a while.
The last movie I watched was The Bling Ring which I didn’t like.
We turned our heater on November 1st. I had been freezing in the mornings!
The vineyard looks beautiful and your dinner looks great.
Looks like you had a fun and food-filled weekend! I wish you could come over and make me dessert so I could have some waiting for me when I got home ;) I JUST turned on the heat this morning, actually. It’s that time againnnnnn.
Your dinner sounds amazing, and that dab of butter looks like the most adorable thing ever! I’m happy to read you both enjoyed your weekend after all!
I can’t remember which was the last film I watched, because I don’t have the time to do so. Oh well, I think it was the Coco Chanel film we’re watching in French class. Yup, it was, though we’re not done with it yet!
And yeah, we had to turn on the heat last weekend too, because it felt so so cold here! It feels so cozy now! x
Watching Coco Chanel in French class actually sounds like fun! I named my dog Coco after her, haha.
I wish I could say that I didn’t like butter but yeah, not the case over here! I love to put it on everything!! Only real butter of course!!
And again, I am incredibly envious of the beauty you have in your “back yard”!! With all the wineries near you, I think it is impossible to ever get bored.
What a great date night! That food looks incredible, including the butter (I actually really love butter). We turned on the gas fireplace for the first time a couple weeks ago and we’ll turn it on at night when the sun goes down. It feels really good during the day in the sun, but not so much at night!
Your photos of the winery look gorgeous and the food looks so yummy! Our apartment building controls our heat and unfortunately it is on already. It’s actually pretty cold here but our apartment never dips below 70 degrees unless it is 20 degrees outside! We have to disable our heater every winter until it gets really really cold. I am not sure if it’s because we get a lot of sun or the proximity to other apartments but man it’s so hot!
That winery is beautiful!! Looks like you guys had a great weekend.. with great food! I never use the butter at restaurants (even pre-vegan). I’m fine with just the bread.. sans butter. Everyone always thinks it is odd.. but I just don’t need the cals! That flower butter is adorable though!
Wow – that butter is incredible! Can you imagine how long it took to do that? … or maybe it’s just a mold? Anyway, the winery looks absolutely beautiful! I’d love to live near a winery or two. How could you not enjoy those views?!
Yum, that dinner looks incredible!! The last movie I saw was Insidious – creepy!! And yes, our heat is on, thank goodness!
Wow that is a gorgeous venue!! Your wedding pictures are going to be amazing. P.s. You couldn’t look awkward if you tried!
That’s not where we’re getting married! We are flying back to Florida for our wedding. I would love to get married out here but it’s too far for our families.
So jealous that you live near wineries like that! You are seriously so lucky. I would loooove to get married at a vineyard.
That winery looks incredible, glad you guys got some much needed time together on your date. I can totally understand you eating that butter, how could you not?
Yum to that vegan pumpkin pie!
Last movie I watched was Amelie with Nick, we were ticking off another movie off the top 250 movies of all time list we are making our way through.
Wow…that winery is absolutely beautiful! Love your hair by the way!
You are adorable!!! a) Just watched we are the millers and loved it and b)the heat was turned on months ago! Not all of us get to live in Cali ;)
I’d say that’s a GORGEOUS wedding spot!!
I hear you on the heat, I’ve been doing the same thing.
the heater has been turned on and the firewood is piled by the fireplace ready for the first fire of the season. I leave that up to Eric though.
I have to explore more of Livermore wine country. It’s literally just over the Sunol Grade from us. I’ve been to a couple, I remember one that was very dog friendly and they had music nights an such. forgot the name though. and yes, hope the weather stays nice. a hike would be lovely this time.
Last movie I watched. . . . I don’t remember. Though I have been wanting to rewatch The Last Unicorn (animated film from my childhood). I just got to dig it out of my DVD shelf.
