If you follow me on Instagram then you probably already know this but…WE GOT A PUPPY!

Her name is Lucy and we brought her home from the Athens Humane Society on May 9th, the same day as Brandon’s 36th birthday. We saw a picture of her online and read that she was a lab/terrier mix which sounded perfect for us so we put in an application before even meeting her. Turns out she looks nothing like a labrador but nonetheless, we fell in love.

She is about 3.5 months old and is extremely smart and energetic. She is definitely a terrier and I think she might have Shiba Inu in her because of her coloring but I’m not sure. The curiosity has been killing me so I finally caved and bought a DNA test from Amazon. We should find out in a couple of weeks what this little rascal is.

Honestly I’ve been so preoccupied with taking care of her and training her that I’ve fallen behind on my normal blogging activities so I’ll hope you’ll forgive me for my shortcomings. If you want to be distracted while working from home adopt a puppy.

Well whatever June has in store for you I hope it’s a good one. In the meantime, here’s a round up of my favorite recent finds!

*******************

Favorite Cool Treat: Vanilla Cherry Nice Cream. If there’s one thing I miss the most about California it’s the fresh produce. What I wouldn’t give for some local, organically grown stone fruit so I could make this nice cream. It looks like the perfect way to cool down on a hot summer day.

Favorite Healthy Hack: How to Make Frozen Spinach Cubes. Sometimes it can be a challenge to use up all of the fresh spinach before it goes bad. I love this idea to make ice cubes out of it so you can easily use them for green smoothies!

Favorite Cookware: GreenLife Ceramic Pan. GreenPan recently sent me their new line of pans to try and I have to say I am very impressed. I’ve tried other “healthy non-stick” pans in the past with poor results but these really do work wonderfully. I barely need to use any oil when I cook with it!

Favorite Escape: Tulum, Mexico. I’ve had Mexico on the brain for a while now and after learning about all of the healthy plant-based food options in Tulum I’m dying to go. I think Lucy would like frolicking down a Mexican beach, don’t you? ;)

Favorite Self Tanner: Tanceuticals. Okay so I know not everyone is on the self tanner train but I prefer to use it because I don’t need any more freckles up in here. So I have tried quite a few and I have to say this one works extremely well. The color is super natural, it doesn’t stink and it doesn’t stain your clothes/sheets. The only thing I’ve found is that, because it isn’t tinted, it can be easy to get streaks if you don’t exfoliate and apply it properly. But if you’re careful to do those steps properly then it’s pretty freaking magical stuff.

Favorite Concealer: Tarte Shape Tape. I feel like I’m the last person on the face of the planet to try this concealer. It’s gotten many rave reviews and I can verify that it’s for a good reason. The coverage is great and it doesn’t go on cakey or settle into fine lines. Tarte definitely hit the nail on the head with this one!

Favorite Supplement: Dr. Furhman DHA + EPA. You know how your parents always told you to eat fish because it will make you smart? Yeah well that’s thanks to the fatty acids which the fish get from eating algae. Instead of eating fish or taking fish oil I’ve been going straight to the source by adding algae oil to my smoothies. I recently transitioned to this brand because it’s sourced from lab grown algae so that it has lower levels of toxins than what you get from the ocean and is also more sustainable.

Favorite Article: The Next Gluten. Recently I’ve been hearing all about the dangers of lectins thanks to the release of the new book The Plant Paradox by Dr. Gundry. This article is an excellent response to the hype. Just make sure you read the entire thing, if you’re interested.

Favorite Comfort Food: Vegan Skillet Lasagna with Almond Ricotta. Have you ever seen a more gorgeous skillet full of carbs and veggie goodness? I think I could sit down with the whole pan to myself.

Favorite Cookie: 5-Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies. I saw these in Kate’s book and immediately added them to my list to make soon. Then Lindsay went and posted them to her blog and I about died. They look so good and you can’t beat the super short ingredient list!
