Best of 2014 + $100 Reader Survey Giveaway
Happy (almost) New Years Eve! Whether you’re back at work or still soaking up the last days of vacation, I hope your week is off to a great start.
I’m super excited about today’s post because I finally get to reveal my new blog design! For the past month or so, I’ve been working behind the scenes with Julie of Deluxe Designs and Jeff of Murnan Creative (see my resources page for more info, if you’re interested) to give this place a little face-lift and it feels so good to see it live. I’m still looking into updating a few other things as well but for now, navigating the site should be similar to what it was before.
In addition to the new look, January will officially make it two years that I’ve been blogging. I had no idea what to expect when I first started this blog (and no idea what I was doing, ha!) but over the past two years it has become something that I’m incredibly passionate about. Reading your comments brings me such great happiness and I am so thankful for all of the friends I’ve made.
Between planning a wedding, a honeymoon, moving, and taking a trip overseas, 2014 has been a busy and distracting year for me so with that in mind, I really want to focus on improving things around here in 2015. But for that to happen, I need your help!
If you have the time, I would greatly appreciate if you would fill out a very short survey that I put together. It will hopefully allow me to get a better idea of what you like and what you don’t like, plus there’s a chance for you to win $100 Amazon gift card so it’s not a total loss. :)
Fill out this survey by 11:59pm Pacific Standard time Wednesday, January 7th to be entered to win!
Okay, so now that we’ve got that out of the way, and we’ve seen all of my fails from this past year, let’s take a look at what was the most popular. That we end 2014 on a good note!
#10 Healthy No-Bake Brownie Bites (vegan, gluten-free, and refined sugar-free) – these were one of my favorites too! They’re so easy to make (less than 10 minutes!) and they have rich fudgy texture, just like brownies.
#9 Best-Ever Quinoa Chili (vegan and gluten-free)- my all-time favorite classic chili recipe made with lots of veggies and healthy plant protein. #winning
#8 Skinny Snickerdoodles (vegan and gluten-free) – these are made with oat flour and coconut oil for healthier version of the classic cinnamon sugar cookie.
#7 Honey Almond Chia Granola (gluten-free)- based of off one of my all-time favorite store-bought granolas, this recipe is naturally sweetened with honey and full of healthy fats from chia seed and coconut oil.
#6 Almond Joy Energy Balls (vegan and gluten-free)- apparently you guys like food in the shape of balls. It’s okay, I do too. These are made with all of my favorite things: coconut, chocolate, almond butter, oats and crispy rice cereal.
#5 Spinach Artichoke Quinoa Casserole (gluten-free)- I’m not the least bit surprised this was so popular because it’s pretty darn awesome, if I don’t say so myself. Think healthier spinach and artichoke dip made with Greek yogurt and quinoa. NOM.
#4 Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato Soup (vegan and gluten-free)- I had a similar version of this soup out to eat at a local restaurant and it was so good that I had to recreate it at home. The texture and flavor is so luxurious, you’d never guess it was so simple to make!
#3 Roasted Butternut Squash Enchilada Casserole (gluten-free with vegan option)- ugh, this one is so good but the pictures are so bad, haha. Regardless, many of you were able to see past that and love it as much as I do.
#2 Spaghetti Squash Burrito Bowls (gluten-free with vegan option)- I think all of you are just obsessed with Chipotle’s burrito bowls as I am because you loved this at home grain-free version. And you gotta love a recipe that doesn’t require washing the dishes when you’re done!
#1 Best-Ever Chocolate Quinoa Cake (gluten-free)- aahhh, the infamous quinoa cake. To start, it’s flourless which people seem to go crazy for. It has has received more pageviews/feedback/questions/comments than any other recipe on my site which I find to be somewhat surprising considering that the pictures aren’t really that great. But the cake is nothing short of amazing so I guess it’s easy to see why it’s loved so much.
That’s a wrap!
Thank you so much for your support and love in 2014. I hope that 2015 is filled with good health and lots of happiness for all of you! See you next year!

So much delicious food! Your pictures are incredible. Isn’t Julie amazing? I used her this year to face lift my blog. I was completely wow’d by her skills to put something together with very little creative direction from me.
She is such an amazing designer! I’m always impressed by her fast turn around time.
I didn’t realize how much you accomplished this year because I was busy drooling over your food and trying to find a way to sneak into your suitcase!! lol The new design looks beautiful, and totally pinned that spinach and artichoke quinoa!

I certainly haven´t Sarah, I love your blog! I´ve been really busy writing my Bachelor thesis, working and so on and am way behind on blog-reading. I´m fine. Our dog ran away on the 23rd and we just found him today. I think you as a dog owner can understand how relieved and happy I am now. I´m glad your doing fine.
Oh my gosh, I would have been a mess worrying if I were you! I’m so happy that you found him.
