April Favorites
Happy Friday! I hope you all had a nice week!
I’m still trying to get back into the swing of things since we returned home from our road-trip. I don’t know what it is but I have been off my game in the kitchen lately. I had three fails this week! Needless to say, I’ll be working on trying to make up for where I went wrong and hopefully come up with a few winners in the process.
Wherever you are, I hope you are able to enjoy some nice spring weather this weekend. In the meantime, sit back and relax with my favorite finds in April.
Favorite Breakfast: Tiger Nut Flour Pancakes. Could this stack of pancakes be any prettier? They’re made with flour from tiger nuts which are small, fibrous root vegetables. So they’re completely grain-free and nut-free! I have a feeling tiger nut flour is going to be the new coconut flour.
Favorite Taco: Roasted Cauliflower and Lentil Tacos. These are basically everything I need in life.
Favorite Drink: Mango Margaritas with Sugar Salt Lime Rim. Because no taco is complete without margaritas. I’ll take both recipes for Cinco de Mayo, please and thank you!
Favorite Seasonal Fruit: Clumpy Granola Bowl with Stewed Rhubarb and Yogurt. I’ve been craving rhubarb ever since we had it at the Boonville Hotel last week. This recipe looks like the perfect way to satisfy it. Those clumps!
Favorite Eco-friendly Find: Ecobags Organic Net Produce Bags. I remember to bring my reusable grocery bags 99% of the time but I’m horrible about using plastic produce bags. I finally bought these reusable ones from Amazon and I love them. They’re transparent and they list the tare on the tag so that the grocery store can deduct the weight properly.
Favorite Tub with a View: 7 Spectacular Bathtubs. This bathtub is in an overwater bungalow in Tahiti. Need I say more?
Favorite Shoes: Lisson Sandals by Qupid. I’ve had these sandals since last year and they are my all-time favorite pair. Not only are they vegan but they’re super comfortable and I bought them for just $30. Talk about a steal!
Favorite Helpful Post: Secrets for Saving Money at Whole Foods. I think we’ve all heard the nickname Whole Paycheck, right? As much as I love Whole Foods it does have a bad rep when it comes to prices. Brittany does a great job pointing out ways to get around the expensive price tags and still reap the benefits of shopping at America’s healthiest grocery store.
Favorite Natural Face Wash: Nourish Organic Face Cleanser. I used to be obsessed with Juice Beauty’s Cleansing Milk but I feel like it’s a little too rich in the warmer months. Then I picked up a sample of this at Expo West and have been hooked ever since. It has a lighter texture but doesn’t strip my skin of moisture and I like that I can recognize pretty much everything in the ingredient list.
Favorite Music: Lord Huron. Brandon and I have deemed this our Oregon road-trip soundtrack because we listened to it the majority of the time we were on the road. Now it gives me a nostalgic feeling whenever I hear it. It’s a good one.
Favorite Instagram: Ashley Rosenbaum. This kid. I can’t. Those of you that are Bachelor fans might remember J.P. and Ashley? Well this is their baby and he is the cutest thing EVER. I get serious baby fever whenever she posts a new picture of him.
Favorite News Source: Daily Skimm. I don’t know about you guys but I loathe watching the news. The majority of it is negative and so depressing. But I know it’s important to stay informed so I like to read the Daily Skimm emails instead. They touch on the most important topics of the moment while keeping things concise and somewhat entertaining.
Favorite Dessert: Dark Chocolate Golden Milk Macaroons. Leave it to Dana to think of a genius idea like sneaking turmeric into chocolate macaroons. I need to make these ASAP!
Maaaaawwww I’m so glad you like the pancakes! We’ll definitely have to make them when I visit in June.
Now all I can think about is sipping on one of those margaritas in that bathtub in Tahiti…so pretty! And I’m already listening to the Lord Heron album – it’s really good!! And I bet it was the perfect music for the road trip. Have a great weekend, girl!
I totally forgot to tell you about these skincare products I started using a couple months ago. They are made in Benicia (so it’s local for us!). All their products come in glass (yay! no plastic) and the ingredients are amazing. You should totally checkout Luminance Skin Care. I think you’d really like their products.
Sounds awesome! I’ll definitely check them out!
I want those margaritas! Also, Ashley and JP are my all-time favorite bach couple. Their kid is so cute!
I read the skimm every day while I’m eating breakfast, love it so much.
Have a great weekend!
Ah, Fordie “40” — he is just the cutest ;)
He kills me! :)
Thanks for sharing these Sarah! I am checking out that clumpy granola bowl because i haven’t had rhubarb for ages and it looked delightful. Happy Friday!
Ohhhh I’m in the market for a new face wash.. I may just have to give that one a try. I also hate watching the news but Miguel is obsessed and watches it in the morning and evening (as in like, basically the same exact news twice…). I’ve grown numb to it and I’m a pro at zoning it out now. Happy weekend, lady!
Brandon watches it constantly too! Specifically CNN. It’s politics 24/7 and it drives me nuts! I immediately open my computer whenever it’s on, lol.
Great roundup! Totally craving those margaritas and I need those produce bags–I’m the same way in that I always bring my big bags but still use the little plastic produce ones.
Thanks, Becky! :)
I’ve heard murmurs of tiger nut flour every now and then, so maybe it will take the main stage soon! I’ve been drooling over those cauliflower + lentil tacos for like, 2 years, lol. Which means I need to make them ASAP!!!
I know, I’ve had my eye on them for a while too. It’s hard to try others recipes when you’re busy trying to create your own but they’re definitely on my to-make list! :)
I’m the same way with grocery bags – I always use my own totes but still waste plastic by using the produce bags. I love the idea of these reusable ones! That being said I know some veggies store better in more of an enclosed environment like a plastic bag (ie. lettuces, herbs). I wonder if there are any reusable bags like that without holes in them… something I should start looking out for!
Good point! I usually store most of my produce in the plastic bags. I didn’t even think about that but I’m sure there are reusable ones out there. Maybe even ones specifically meant for storing produce.
