A Day in the Life: Hillary from Nutrition Nut on the Run

Today’s “day in the life” is fellow NorCal blogger, Hillary from Nutrition Nut on the Run. While I have yet to meet her in-person, we’ve been internet friends for a while now and if it’s one thing that has been completely obvious to me, it’s that this girl is truly passionate about wholesome and healthy food.  She has a background in nutrition and is also about to finish her training with IIN to become a Certified Holistic Health Coach and I’m so excited to watch her continue to grow!

If you’re new to her site, be sure to swing by for some of her tasty recipes and healthy living inspiration!

Hello, Making Thyme for Health readers!

I’m Hillary, the girl behind Nutrition Nut on the Run. Sarah has graciously written guest posts for my blog (a.k.a. fig pizza deliciousness!) in the past, so I was more than happy to return the favor by showing y’all a (very detailed) look at how I make “thyme for health” in my typical day to day life.

6:30 – 6:35am: Roll out of bed –> bathroom; pop in my contacts

6:35 – 6:40am: Pour myself a pint glass of cold-brewed, half-caff iced coffee with a splash of unsweetened vanilla almond milk; put two pieces of thin-sliced Dave’s Killer Bread in the toaster; quietly put away the clean dishes from the dish dryer

6:40 – 6:50am: Slather the golden brown toast with homemade vanilla bean cashew butter, low-sugar apricot preserves and a heavy sprinkle of hemp seeds; inhale said toast with iced coffee, enjoying the cool breeze wafting through the dining room window

6:50 – 7:20am: Slip into my Joe’s jeans and Lulu long sleeve – the cool weather is calling for a day of comfort; attempt to address my bed head by tying my hair in a ballet bun; brush my teeth and lather my lashes with mascara

7:20am: Walk out the front door; smile at the crimson mums and Apple Hill-grown pumpkin on my porch

7:20- 7:25: Flip between country radio stations on my short drive to work

7:26am: Clock in

7:30 – 9:00am: Listen to part two of a nutrition education webinar

8:20am: Fill up my reusable water bottle with cold, filtered water

8:40am: Eat an Orange Cashew Chocolate Chip Cookie (healthy enough that they’re approved for early a.m. snacking)

9:00 – 11:00am: Major inbox clean-up and email exchanges

9:50am: Eat Orange Cashew Chocolate Chip Cookie #2 and refill my water bottle

10:15 – 10:20am: Office Workout Break

(3x) 12 squats / 12 lunges / 12 push-ups (on knees)

11:00am – 12:00pm: More work…

11:15- 11:30am: Walking break around the HOP Field (finally – cool, breezy fall air!)

12:00 – 1:00pm: Home for lunch.

I eat a crisp Granny Smith from Apple Hill, sliced Dubliner cheese, and gluten-free Mary’s Gone Crackers (the best!)

Then, I hear a little voice in my head saying I need more protein, so I hard boil a few free-range eggs from the farmer’s market as I sip on diluted ACV in water

I pack a snack for the afternoon, enjoy an egg, and then out the door for the second half of my day…

1:00 – 4:30pm: Work

1:30pm – 2:00pm: Weekly one-on-one with my supervisor

2:30pm: Enjoy a sliced banana with creamy almond butter, hemp seeds, and unsweetened coconut

4:40pm: Home, check the mail (I love checking the mailbox!)

4:40 – 5:10: Check out the package that arrived for an upcoming blog campaign; catch up with the roommate; do dishes

5:10 – 5:30pm: Make a deposit at the bank and stop at the co-op for for Humboldt goat cheese

5:30 – 6:40pm: Home again; inhale Late July tortilla chips with organic salsa and avocado; start laundry; prep veggies

6:40 – 7:30pm: Cycle (in my living room) for 50 minutes while listening to this week’s IIN health coaching lectures; veggies simultaneously roasting in oven

7:40 – 8:00pm: Eat plate of roasted brussels and winter squash with Dijon (spoiled my plan to make this salad by eating all the chips); more dishes and laundry

8:00pm: Shower time; slather on my favorite face mask and pumpkin body butter

8:15pm: Whirl up frozen banana “soft serve” with hemp seeds and another petite cookie

9:00 – 9:30pm: Blog work from the couch

9:30 – 10:15pm: Chat with P on the phone

11:00pm: Finally close the computer –> bathroom; pop out my contacts –> BED!
