It was nice to have a Monday off for a change. Especially after taking call on Sunday night and being called in 3 separate times with only 4 hours sleep in between. If anyone knows me well, they know I like my sleep. I was not a happy camper.
I had planned to drop my car off at the mechanic first thing this morning to see why my check engine light had been on recently for the past 2 years (it just wasn’t urgent, you know?), but was dreading getting up since I hadn’t climbed back in bed until 6:30am.
Brandon, being the amazing sweetheart that he is, dropped my car off for me and walked back home so I could stay in bed and get some sleep. Luckily, I found a great mechanic less than a mile from home so it’s not too far of a walk. I told him he definitely deserves the man of the year award! ![]()
Once I managed to crawl out of bed, we decided to make a trip to Bed,Bath, and Beyond to use a gift card from Christmas for a few items.
After mashing potatoes with a fork for way too many years, I finally got myself a potato masher!
Oh, and a cooling rack too. I see a donut recipe in my near future that may require one of these. ![]()
I also picked up some of my favorite Burt Bee’s lip balm.
This will only be the 15th time I have bought this lip balm in the last year. I keep forgetting to take it out of my scrubs at the end of the day and it ends up melted in the dryer after we do a load of darks. ![]()
I have managed to ruin a few pieces of clothes including two shirts that Brandon really liked. I just get in such a hurry when I am changing into my gym clothes after work that I forget to check my pockets. If anyone knows any secrets for removing wax or balm from clothes, please share!
We also made a pit stop by Starbucks to get me an iced green tea…
And Brandon a black coffee…because that’s what a man drinks!
And, of course, one of these for dessert.
A birthday cake pop. Mmmm…come to Mama!
Okay, on to the real goods here…
The drink recipe I am sharing today is a favorite of ours that we drink almost every weekend. I got the idea to make these after having something similar at a restaurant here in California one evening. They are very light and refreshing and are healthy to boot!
Pomegranate juice is known to be high in antioxidants and polyphenols that have been linked to many health benefits which may include lowering cholesterol. But it is important to make sure you are buying 100% pure pomegranate juice to get the most antioxidants.
Hibiscus tea has also been linked to certain health benefits, such as lowering blood pressure. However, because hibiscus is considered an herb, these benefits have not been evaluated by the FDA. Whatever…
Lastly, lime juice also has a healthy dose of Vitamin C to help keep your immune system in good shape. Man, I’m feeling good just thinking about all of the healthy ingredients in this yummy drink, aren’t you? ![]()
Pomegranate Hibiscus Spritzers
- 1/4 cup Hibiscus tea (I used blueberry)
- 1/2 cup Pomegranate Juice
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 4 ounces Club Soda
Layer ingredients over ice starting with Hibiscus tea and work your way down the list. Then stir well and garnish with lime twist. Drink and be instantly refreshed! ![]()
After a delicious meal, which I will be sure to share the recipe on later, we I sat down to watch a new episode of the Bachelor! Squeal!
I am so glad they run the Bachelor Monday nights because otherwise, it’s just another Monday! ![]()
I think it is pretty obvious that Sean and Lesley have real chemistry.
But Sarah is so sweet! And she has my name.
Have any of you picked a favorite girl for Sean yet?

I just love your blog. By the way, have you ever made homemade pasta. I used to when Al was still here. Losts of fun to do as a couple(among other things). Love you

I just love you! No, I have never made homemade pasta but I have thought about it before. Ravioli, specifically. Maybe we can make some together when I come home to visit and you can teach me!

Ha…my check engine light was on for two months and I was like…meh no biggie. Until I went to get an inspection. Ughhhhh $200 later…… So annoying!

I read an article a few weeks ago about how many people ignore their check engine light and how it costs them more money down the road. Plus, you can’t pass inspection here in CA if its on so I finally caved! Sucks to spend the money but at least you might be saving yourself extra cash later!
